Magazine

This is a magazine that I made up, designed and then created. I chose to do a fashion magazine and had to make up a model to go on the front and be part of an article. I wrote the 2000 word article between the magazine ad the model and played both parts. I took a portrait shoot of someone to be the model for my made up magazine. To complete my magazine it took about 2 months to do the shoot, write the article and piece together all four pages. I did two double page spreads, a front cover and contents page.

Future Plan

In the future I am planning to stay involved in media whether it be in social media or or in a media environment in a certain sector. With all the experience and skills I have got over the two years can be used in all types of the media but I will need to get some more experience before I can really be part of a big company or production. Some options I am looking at for the future are to be a make up artist in the media on film or TV productions. To do this I would need to do a make up course which could be done as a temporary college course in special effects make up or just normal make up, as media make up can be in all different genres of TV and film or reality. I am already involved in the soical media because I work in freelance promotions so I am going to carry on with that while trying to look to get some experience or a job as part of a media company. Working on a production at ITV or Media City because I am lucky they are close to where I live is a big goal of mine to try and acheive. Working on a production in them places would be amazing, I would have to start at the bottom as a runner and learn skills and gain experience to then get job roles in the other sectors.

Music Video

This is a music video i created for my media class with a group. I have used stop motion, filmed footage and images for this music video. We chose the song because it was fun and had a lot of lyrics you can re create with images or actions. Also because a lot of people know the song and can relate to it and sing along. It took about a month the film the project and then another month to edit everything together. I used a lot of the bloopers we did while filming because I think it made the video look better and more fun. I wanted to create a music video with actial friends to make people laugh and see the real chemistry. I found editing my video very fun and i used the skills I had already used previously to make other films in Premier Pro. I enjoyed editing this video and i think it came out looking very professional and not boring. I was aiming for an audience of young friends just like the video showed. I think i made a professional looking video and met the needs of the audience by making sure shots wern't to long and they were fun and upbeat just like the song. We matched the dancing we did in the shots to the song. I researched lots of music videos before I started this project and it gave me a lot of ideas about how to create a good looking music video. I also watched the video for the song I used to give me some idea of what the music style was. They used the concept style and for my idea I also used this style. i chose this because you don't have to follow a story and show a performance. The concept of the video was to show a group of friends having fun and i think I showed this.

Short Film Pitch

This is a recording of a pitch me and my group did for our short film. We did this pitch in front of three people, our teacher a teachers assistant and a man from the BBC. We had to do all of our pre production to get ready for this pitch. I put together the PowerPoint for our group with things and information we all collected separately or found together, this played behind us while we gave our pitch. We all prepared little cue cards to prompt us on what to say about our film and so we knew which person was going to say what when. This helped a lot when we pitched our idea back to someone because we could hear someone else's opinion and also hear the things we had done wrong when we said them. I learnt a lot from this and realised how much work it is to produce a film and make sure everything is right before you start the production. We went back and edited some of our pre production after this pitch so our production would be more professional. We did this pitch to give us an idea of what doing an actual one for an idea of ours would be like. We showed and talked about a budget, our idea, actors, props, costume everything we would used if we had money, a team and our film had been commisioned to be made professionally. It took us about 2 weeks to prepare for this and it hepled a lot, we got lots of feedback from the man from the BBC which was good because he has ecperience in watching pitches and being in the media industry. Our pitch lasted about 16 minutes overall with the questions from the people watching us. i think this is a reasonable time to keep one going and to explain enough what our idea is and get some interested. i fI were to do another with a real idea I wnated to persue I would make sure I had the same or even moe confidence to talk about my idea. I would make sure I had thought through every actor I chose and made sure my idea came across interesting for people.

Wash Your Hands NHS Project

This is a video i created for my media class with a group for the NHS, i was also in the video. We made a short film for Saldford Royal Hospital with the title 'Wash Your Hands'. We had a brief about what our short film had to be about and we used this to put together an idea of how to show this. Our video was being made to be shown in the new reception of Salford Royal Hospital so it needed to be quick and to the point but also interesting. Also it didn't have sound so we had to show what we meant thinking that people were only going to be able to see it. This project was good and definatly helped my organizational skills when we had to arrange filming days with our group and with the hospital. We came up with our idea as a group to show different scenarios of germs spreading around a hospital and how important it is to 'Wash Your Hands'. We decided to use the hospital and real people to create this short video. The video took us about 2 weeks to shoot and then took us about 3 weeks to edit together. We had effects on our video to show the germs so the editing was harder to do to create a good overall look. Howver I think it gave a very professional look and worked well in the end. The project was helpful to promote germs and how you need to be clean and think about others wether you are a patient or visitor. We showed in our video how we aimed it at all types of people in a hospital, even staff.

Film Magazine Article

This is a magazine article I created for film remakes. I created these two double page spreads on Photoshop. First i worte my article in sections after watching each of the films and researching both the orginal and remake. When writing my articl I thought about the style I wanted to use to make it sound like I was actually a film reviewer for a real magazine, talking to the audience and asking them questions. When i put my article text onto the double page template I tried to set it out giving it a magzine look using columns and adding pictures around the text. First I created the background of my article and added my picture, then I layed over the text. I used lots of pictures to break up the text and to make my article look more interesting. I used these pictures because they relate to the films I researched for my magazine article, however I didnt use images from every film I wrote about because I didn't want the page to look messy. If i were to create another article I would definatly try and use the same writing style to make it sound less like an assignment and more like a professional article. Also i would try to concentrate a bit more on the layout and look to give my article different look. This project helped a lot with my writing and how to change how i write when i need to, i feel this project shows how well i can write and structure an article. This project took me about a month to complete.
